Preparations
Tablet: 10 mg
Injection: 15 mg/mL (1 mL), 30 mg/mL (1 mL, 2 mL)

Dose
Tablet: 10 mg three to four times daily; maximum 40 mg/day; maximum 5 days administration
Injection: 30 mg then 15–30 mg every 6 hours as needed (maximum daily dose 120 mg)

Indications: Short-term management of acute pain

Comments: Only use for short-term control of pain. Lower doses in the elderly and if renal impairment.

Clinical Pharmacology: Well absorbed after oral administration; hepatic metabolism; renal excretion of 60% of drug unchanged. Half-life of 2–8 hours is increased in elderly persons.
