Preparations
Capsules: 25- and 50 mg
Capsule, extended release: 75 mg
Suspension oral: 25 mg/5 mL
Suppository: 50 mg
Dose
25–50 mg orally two to three times daily (1–2 mg/kg/day); maximum, 200 mg/day
Sustained-release capsule (75 mg) administered one or two times/day
Clinical Pharmacology: Well absorbed after oral administration; hepatic metabolism and renal excretion of metabolites; half-life 4–5 hours
Comments: Indomethacin may be more likely to cause CNS side effects (headaches, somnolence, cognitive dysfunction), particularly in the elderly.
